Mr. Strolovitch is the senior partner on a
group of key accounts at the firm. Qualifying as a chartered accountant
in 1961, he became a partner in 1972 after joining the firm the year
before.
A
specialist in tax planning, Ernest brings to the firm a particular
talent for business strategy and the critical thinking necessary to
understand complex situations. His areas of concentration are primarily
tax planning and estate planning for clients representing industries
such as food, high-technology, public relations, advertising and
retailing. His tax advice, knowledge of finance and
government-relations skills are precious assets to the firm.
Thoughts on client relationships
Mr. Strolovitch attributes the firm's
success to the good relationships that the firm has built with its
clients. "You don't keep a client because you produce a better balance
sheet. Technical expertise is not the only thing. An accountant is
someone who is always there for the client; someone in whom the client
confides. And our job is to continue to demonstrate that we have their
interests at heart."
Ernest is particularly active in the
profession, founding the Montreal Tax Discussion Group in 1974, which
includes 20 legal and accounting firms. He served as Chairman of the
organization until 2001. He is also on the board of directors and Treasurer of the
Accountants' Study Group in Montréal.
His involvement in community activities
is reflected by a number of previous appointments: as member of the
Board of Trustees of Allied Jewish Community Services of Montréal; as
Co-Chairman of the Comité sur le fait français of Allied Jewish
Community Services of Montréal; (1981-87) and as Chairman of the federal
election task force for B'nai Brith Canada in 1988. He was also
Chairman of the Institute for International Affairs from 1990-1993.
Ernest is married with two children.
